We realize the guilt feeling of wasting food, but sometimes unfortunately there are no options if it doesn’t get consumed. We have come up with an exciting solution for leftover rice and dal, which is mostly there in Indian households. Age-old Italian dish arancini in a completely desi style and trust us, we have tried and tested. It’s spicy, cheesy, and just heavenly in each bite. Go ahead, don’t be shy, try for yourself. Just make sure, you don’t make an Italian try it!

    How to make leftover dal chawal arancini

    Step 1

    Heat 1 tablespoon oil and add cumin seeds and sauté till seeds change color.

    Step 2

    Add ginger, garlic, and green chili, mix and sauté for a minute.

    Step 3

    Add asafoetida, curry leaves, and turmeric powder and mix well. Now add leftover cooked dal and mix well.

    Step 4

    Add coriander leaves, mix and cook till the mixture dries. Transfer into a bowl, add rice, and mix well.

    Step 5

    Grease your palms with some oil. Divide the mixture into equal portions, stuff each with a cheese cube, and shape into balls.

    Step 6

    Dip the balls in slurry and coat them with breadcrumbs. Repeat the process 2 times.

    Step 7

    Heat oil in a Kadai. Deep-fry arancini till golden brown.

    Step 8

    Deep-fry papad. Now garnish arancini topped with papad pieces and coriander leaves.
