About Homemade Chitranna: Chitranna is a popular south Indian rice recipe that is prepared with cooked rice and other ingredients like peanuts and mustard seeds. The dish can be easily prepared at your home in less than 30 minutes.
Homemade Chitranna

Cooking Time: 15 min
1. Sunflower oil4 tbsp
2. Black mustard seeds1/2 tsp
3. Urad dal1/2 tsp
4. Chana dal1 tbsp
5. Peanuts
6. Onion chopped1/4 cup
7. Curry leaves chopped1 tbsp
8. Green chili1 tbsp
9. Turmeric powder1/4 tsp
10. Cooked rice2 cups
11. Salt
12. Lemon juice4-5 tbsp
1. Take a pan, add 4 tbsp of vegetable oil into it, and then heat it. Now, add urad dal, peanuts, chana dal, and black mustard seeds into the pan. Roast the mixture till the mustard seeds splutter and the peanuts turn golden brown in color.
2. Add green chilli, curry leaves, and chopped onions into the mixture and then saute it until the chopped onion pieces become translucent.
3. Now, add turmeric powder into the pan and continue it saute for a few seconds before adding the cooked rice into it. Once you have added the cooked rice, be sure to add lemon juice and salt into the mixture.
4. Gently stir the mixture to properly mix the ingredients with the cooked rice. Taste it and add salt if required before serving.
