  • ½ cup rava / semolina/suji – needs to be coarse
  • ½ cup fine rice flour
  • ¼ cup maida or all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon curd or yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2½ cups of water
  • 1 chilli – finely chopped
  • 1-inch ginger – grated
  • ½ teaspoon of crushed peppercorns
  • 1 teaspoon of cumin or jeera
  • few curry leaves – finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons of coriander – finely chopped
  • 1 onion – finely chopped
  • 1½ cups of water
  • oil (for roasting)


1. Take a large bowl and add ½ cup rava, ½ cup rice flour, and ¼ cup maida. Mix them well. 

2. Add 1 tablespoon of curd, 1 teaspoon salt, and 2½ cups of water to the mixture. 

3. Whisk everything together and mix it well to ensure it’s all smooth and there are no lumps present. 

4. Add 1 chilli, 1 inch of ginger, ½ teaspoon crushed pepper, 1 teaspoon of cumin, a few curry leaves, 2 tablespoons of coriander, and 1 onion.

5. Add 1½ cups of water and blend it well until it becomes a batter with a watery consistency. 

6. Allow the batter to rest for 20 minutes, and ensure that the rava has soaked up all the water. 

7. Mix it well once again to ensure that the batter has a smooth and liquid consistency.

8. Now, you can cautiously pour the dosa batter over a very hot tawa.

9. Lower the flame and cook the dosa until it turns golden and crisp.

10. At last, fold the dosa over and serve it hot with tomato chutney, coconut chutney, or sambar.
